From September 9th to September 12th around 250 participants from 28 different countries discussed topics related to urban energy systems, ressource efficiency, district heating and cooling and hybrid energy grids at the „International Symposium on District Heating and Cooling” (DHC2018) at the HafenCity University Hamburg.

The conference was officially opened by Jens Kerstan, senator of the agency of energy and the environment Hamburg. Another highlight was the speech by Henrik Lund from Aalborg University, Denmark, an expert on low temperature district heating, who focussed on future tasks and challenges for energy supply companies. Results and publications from the conference are available at www.dhc2018.eu.

The symposium DHC2018 was organised by the HafenCity University together with the AGFW (Energieeffizienzverband für Wärme und Kälte e.V.) with the support of the department DHC at the International Energy Agency (IEA).
